On the downside, it could of course be argued that inhibiting growth is exactly what you don’t want to do when setting up a home cannabis cultivation effort.  Unless your pots are quite enormous, this is nevertheless inevitable.

In addition, the fact that containers make it easy for you yourself to pick up and transport your plants means that exactly the same is true for those you would prefer not to pick up and remove your plants, without your permission. It is far easier for criminals to make off with marijuana plants in containers than to uproot towering plants in open soil.

And of course, container growing means sacrificing the naturally superior drainage of open soil, which in turn can prove problematic following heavy rain or accidental overwatering.
