Why do most new year’s resolutions fail? Because they suck…period.

If you’re serious about your resolutions for 2019 and intend to make them stick, it really isn’t rocket science. You simply need to think of the kinds of things you should be doing but currently aren’t, which will benefit you in the long-run.

Of course, nobody ever said sticking to your guns would be easy. Nevertheless, it’s rendered impossible if you attempt to follow through with resolutions you can’t keep.

So with this in mind, we thought we’d share our own personal favourite resolutions we think most stoners should consider. You don’t necessarily have to do all 10, but a handful from the following wouldn’t hurt:

  1. Stop Pocketing Lighters

First up, stop being that annoying SOB who always ends up with a bunch of lighters they didn’t buy or bring. Even if it’s a crappy disposable that’s worth next to nothing, it’s not yours. Likewise, you might not do it on purpose, but the outcome is still the same. Make a conscious effort to stop stealing lighters and ensure any you have in your possession that aren’t yours are returned.

  1. Take a Tolerance Break

If you can stick it out with a tolerance break, you stand to reap the rewards. For one thing, you’ll get far more enjoyment out of the weed you smoke come the other end of it. You’ll also need significantly less weed to get high, so you stand to save a fortune. Remember – a tolerance break doesn’t have to mean quitting, just cutting down temporarily.

  1. Get Yourself Involved

It’s only due to the involvement of people like you that the cannabis legalisation movement has made such enormous progress over the last few years. The question being – have you actually done anything to contribute to the cause? If not, make 2019 the year you finally get involved. Particularly if you live in an area where cannabis is still illegal, there’s a ton you could be doing to get yourself involved.

  1. Eat Better Munchies

Having a house full of junk food at your fingertips each time you’re hit by the munchies is a recipe for disaster. Or at least, a recipe for an expanding waistline and poor health. This year, maybe think about stocking up on healthy munchies and using your cravings to give your body a dose of the good stuff. One important note however – ridding your home of unhealthy snacks doesn’t give you the green light to order five times more takeaways than you did last year!

  1. Give Vaping a Try

Even if you consider it pure heresy, you really need to give vaping a go. It might not carry the same ceremonial tradition as traditional smoking, but is nonetheless a great way of getting high as a kite with minimal cannabis required. It’s also better for your health, or so research would seem to suggest.

  1. Stop Making Excuses

Being a regular or even heavy user of cannabis is no excuse or justification for being lazy. Just as long as you smoke at the right times and choose the right strains, you can smoke to your heart’s content and still get plenty done. It’s up to you to make it happen, so it’s about time you did. Whatever your cannabis habits and preferences, stop using them as an excuse to vegetate on the couch 24/7.

  1. Get Serious with Edibles

By serious, we don’t mean cooking up the same hash brownies you’ve been making for the past 10 years. Instead, we mean getting creative in the kitchen and exploring the limitless possibilities cannabis cuisine brings to the table…literally. If nothing else, whip yourself up a batch of cannabis butter and cannabis oil, which you can then use as an ingredient or added extra for just about anything else you come up with.

  1. Be Less of a Bum

Ask yourself – who’s the guy or girl who always turns up empty-handed? Who’s the one in your circle who just hammers everyone else’s stash, without ever contributing anything to the cause? If you suspect for even a second it’s you, it probably is! Even if you can’t bring quality cannabis along for the ride, there’s plenty of other things you can bring. Take some snacks with you, order some take-out, maybe bring a bottle of top-shelf booze – as long as you’re contributing something, it’s better than nothing.

  1. Up Your Standards

If you’re still smoking bargain-basement bud just because you’re a cheapskate, it’s time to make amends. There’s a world of spectacular strains doing the rounds right now, with new and exciting hybrids entering the mix all the time. So rather than sticking with the usual standards you’re used to, think about changing things up and experimenting with a few new additions. Even if it’s just one new strain per month, it’s more than worth branching out.

  1. Replace Your Gadgets

Last but not least, there’s much to be said for the charm and memories associated with a 20-year-old bong. But if it’s more of a health-hazard than anything else, it’s time to upgrade. Once again, the stuff being produced and sold for cannabis users right now is simply extraordinary. You might be attached to your most faithful pieces of paraphernalia, but there comes a time when you have to step up to something superior. Treat yourself – you probably deserve it!

If none of the above appeal to you, just think of something you can do you’ll actually get some kind of enjoyment out of. Even if it means investing time and effort in the process, the pay-off should make it more than worthwhile.
