However, in a great many American States and as far afield as the United Kingdom, there’s another apparently troubling substance which authorities believe poses a danger to public health.  Chances are that if you haven’t already heard of shatter – aka wax, sap and budder – you will be hearing about it soon enough.  As far as lawmakers and public health groups are concerned, shatter has the very real potential to lead to a dangerous disconnection from reality when used, along with severe hallucinations and outright psychosis.  Or in other words, they reckon it’s a good idea to stay as far away from the stuff as possible.

But where shatter differs entirely from substances like Spice is in the plain and simple fact that it is in fact real weed. Well, sort of…it’s a form of super-concentrated weed that’s designed to pack as much THC and general punch as possible into a much more compact substance. It generally looks relatively similar to extremely thick and undeniably appealing honey. Apprehension is of course understandable as it doesn’t look or feel anything like any kind of weed you may have come across before. Nevertheless, it is simply a super-concentrated version of the stuff, which for the most part doesn’t technically contain anything different than your average bud.

Ok, so that’s not entirely true, as in order for Shatter to be made you’ll also need to invest in butane – a chemical solvent that isn’t exactly one of your five-a-day.  Nevertheless, it doesn’t really have any impact whatsoever on the final product and seems to be of no concern whatsoever to those losing sleep over shatter’s existence. Instead, what’s worrying critical parties is the way in which Shatter is so incredibly strong and concentrated that hitting just a tiny amount of it will take you well beyond what you would expect from a serious pipe or joint hit.  As such, it’s hardly surprising that quite a lot of stoners who try Shatter for the first time don’t exactly realise what they are dealing with, summarily going completely over the top and ending up spectacularly baked.

Those who manufacture and use Shatter on a regular basis almost always warn newcomers to proceed with caution. Nevertheless, enthusiastic newcomers will more often than not do the exact opposite – that’s just the way it goes!
