Now, as far as law enforcement authorities are concerned, the potency of Shatter makes it nothing less than a public menace. Both in the United States and the United Kingdom, authorities are noting and reporting what they’re referring to as a ‘terrifying’ increase in the availability of Shatter, not to mention the strength of the products available and steadily reducing prices. They would really like to see the back of the stuff, but given the way things are going so far, this just isn’t going to happen.

All warnings seem to highlight the potential strength of Shatter, which admittedly does have the potential to be mind-blowingly potent. But in terms of value for money, you really cannot blame folk for making a beeline for the stuff – it really is quite the bargain where available. Generally speaking, you will be looking up paying about twice the price per-gram you’d usually expect to pay for high quality marijuana bud. Nevertheless, given the fact that a weed bud usually has a THC concentration in the region of about 17% and Shatter takes this to a spectacularly high 80% to 90%, you are absolutely getting more bang for your buck, every time.

Still, experts continue to blab on about the fact that Shatter could and very well might lead to something of an overdose epidemic, given the fact that it is way too strong for even the most experienced stoners to handle. They admit that cannabis overdoses are rare, but fear this is the stuff that could change that in a big way.

Which is all well and good, apart from the fact that it just isn’t going to happen.  When you weigh up the difference in strength between Shatter and standard bud, you’re basically looking at a product where one hit on a joint would be the equivalent of five hits. Five hits wouldn’t generally be enough to send any smoker over the edge, and even if it did it doesn’t even come close to overdose territory. And something else the authorities are failing to take into account is the fact that cannabis concentrates have been around in various forms for decades now and haven’t been linked with even a fraction of a percent to the kinds of problems brought on by Spice and the like in just a couple of short years.

Which in turn means that while approaching cannabis concentrates with due care is important, it’s not nearly as important as ignoring the latest wave of unnecessary and unfounded scare stories.
