Contrary to popular belief, cannabis isn’t and has never been fully legal in Jamaica. It may be one of the most widely associated countries with marijuana, but it is in fact still restricted and controlled. That being said, it was recently decriminalized for both medicinal use and religious purposes, while tolerance by way of personal possession and use has been growing significantly over recent years. Not only this, but the Jamaican government has hinted on more than one occasion that the country is more than a little interested in the potential to generate quite massive revenues from cannabis tourism. After all, it’s a pretty lucrative pie that’s already right there on the table.
