Slightly further afield, Ecuador is taking increasingly large steps toward mirroring the cannabis policy of Uruguay, which just so happens to be the only country in the world where cannabis is 100% legal in every way. Historically, the drug trade in and out of Ecuador has been prolific and troublesome to say the least. At the moment, possession and use of cannabis in reasonable amounts is permitted, just as long as it is clear that the individual in question is not planning on distributing it. What’s more, a growing number of drug offenders busted for cannabis crimes are receiving official pardons by the president. All of which suggests that Ecuador has every intention of continuing the positive progress, in terms of cannabis policy.
