It’s not as if governments in general aren’t known for making all manner of promises and summarily forgetting every last one of them. In the case of the current Conservative government, part of their rise to power came on the back of its apparent commitment to policies based on evidence and fact. Which clearly turned out to be nothing but empty rhetoric, given the fact that the UK is still knee-deep in the same United Nations international drug convention which seems to believe that the key to winning the war on drugs is prohibition.

This, despite the fact that anyone with even the slightest idea of what’s actually going on realises that prohibition is counterproductive. And where prohibition has been reversed, the war on drugs is being won by the good guys.
